| Twilight Meeting
The Naismith/Cox family have offered to host the 2010 Twilight meeting. We all have, along with our friends, been invited to meet at about 1 o'clock at the Naismith's Farm, for an afternoon of visiting and fun. All you have to bring is a salad or dessert, lawn chairs and any refreshments you might like, the meat for the hamburgers will be there as well as some of that great "Abby-Hill corn". The address is 1301 Campbell Drive, Arnprior, Ontario and if you get lost call 613-623-3782. Zone Shows The two Zone Shows this year are in conjunction with the Beachburg (July 24th) and Vankleek Hill (August 22) Fairs. We would like to express our thanks to these two fairs for supporting our club and allowing us to use their fair to promote the Hereford Breed. Ottawa Valley MOE Show This year we moved our MOE Show to Carp, so as to give the breeders in the Eastern part of the zone an opportunity to more easily participate in the show. Thank you to the Carp Fair for their support and for allowing us to promote the best breed of cattle, - Herefords. Quebec MOE Show This year the Quebec Hereford Association have expanded their MOE Show circuit to include Shawville, Quebec. We would like to encourage our breeders to help make their new show a success. For more information, contact the Shawville Fair at www.shawvillefair.ca or Sara Knox at 819-674-3211 Beef Raffle As an additional fundraiser this year Duaine McKinley and Chris Lafave have taken on the project of a beef raffle. They are raffling a side of beef as well as 1 front 1/4 and 1 rear 1/4. The meat will be subject to all the usual government inspections and controls. All Junior Hereford and 4-H members assisting in sale of tickets are eligible for a draw of a $500.00 certificate to be used at the Ottawa Valley Hereford Club Sale, Oct. 11, 2010 at the Carp Fair grounds. The certificate has no cash value, but may be applied towards any purchase at the sale. The winning ticket will be drawn on September 11, 2010 at the beef ring of the Spencerville Fair at 12 noon. All funds raised from this raffle will go to support the juniors. Pick of the Valley Sale Thanksgiving weekend again marks the date when we will have our 3rd Annual Ottawa Valley Hereford Club Sale at the Carp Fair Grounds. The date and time will be Monday, October 11, 2010 at 1pm. Sheila James and Brent Palsson have taken the lead role again this year and we know they will do a super job of promoting our Hereford Cattle, please contact Sheila at 613- 253-7028 if you have questions. We are hoping that there will be a good attendance at the sale and buyers to look over some of the best of the Hereford Breed in the Ottawa Valley. Plan to Attend. Pick of the Valley Membership Again this year in support of the sale, the Pick of the Valley Membership draw will take place. Memberships will be available for you to purchase and perhaps your membership ticket will be drawn and you have the opportunity to win one of the heifers that are eligible for the draw. Get your membership early from any of the board members; there are only 125 memberships available, and they cost only $50.00. There have been several excited winners in the past. |
